Virgil retired after 44 years of service for L&N and CSX Railroad. He did 17 years as Deputy Sheriff volunteer for Jefferson County and was a Fairdale Mason Lodge 942.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Rosemary Webb Bybee; granddaughter, Angela Bybee; siblings, Troy Bybee, Della Mae Bybee, Donald Bybee; son-in-law, John Mongold III; and daughter-in-law, Natasha Romans Bybee.
He is survived by his children, Alan (Sandy), Linda, Mike (Debbie), Rick, Kathy (Kenny); grandchildren, Kelly, James, Jacob, Kaitlyn, Emily, Cody, Ryan, Kelsey; great-grandchildren, Austin, Maxwell; great-great grandchildren, Timberlynn; and many loving extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 from 2pm – 8pm at Fairdale McDaniel Funeral Home, 411 Fairdale Road, 40118. Another visitation will be held on Thursday, December 7, 2023 from 10am – 11am at Mt. Holly Methodist Church, 804 Mt. Holly Road, 40118. Service will be at 11am at church with a burial to follow at Brookland Cemetery.
