Shirley Ethel Dunaway, age 89 of Fairborn, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at Patriot Ridge Community. She was born the daughter of Steve Clinton & Charity Jane (Bransum) New on December 1, 1928 in Hazard, Kentucky.
She was preceded in death by her husband the love of her life for 66 wonderful and devoted years Dillard; her parents; son Paul Douglas Dunaway; a great-great-grand baby Addi; and siblings Delphia, Bobby, Hardle, Grover, Phyllis, Alice, Russell, and Della.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Vickie (Darrell) Center, Carolyn "Button" (Donald "Doc") Columber, and Pamela Shaver; a son Don (Anita Gail) Dunaway; sisters Christine and Bonnie; brother Coy; 14 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Shirley enjoyed listening to gospel and bluegrass music. She listened to television game shows and storage wars. Shirley loved picnics, was a good cook who enjoyed preparing meals for her family, and used to sew and quilt. She was member of Pillar of Truth Church in Dayton for 13 years and a loyal member of Victory Church for 36 years. Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She will be missed by all who love her.
Friends may call on Monday, November 26, 2018 5PM to 7PM and on Tuesday, November 27, 2018 11AM to Noon at Victory Church, 2443 Valle Greene Dr. Fairborn, Ohio where services will follow Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at 12PM with Pastor Ancil Carter officiating. Interment will follow at Byron Cemetery.
