I did a search to see whether my 1st grade teacher from 1984 was still teaching, and found this.  I'm 44 now, and living in Seattle.  Mrs. Swope was a delightful and memorable teacher, and I'm sorry to see that she passed so young.

Mr Swope & family, so sorry to hear that you lost your wife and mother. May peace wrap itself around you during this difficult time.

Dear Mr. Swope, Erica, Tim and Families, I'm sure you are hearing this from everyone, but I just wanted to say that Mrs. Swope set the standard in my mind for teachers throughout my education.  She was kind, caring and so giving of herself.  I will never forget thinking of the end of school year picnic we had in first grade everytime I passed your house.  Not many teachers open themselves up to students like that, she was a very special woman.  I can remember seeing her throughout the years, and even though she had thousands of students, she remembered me.  I wish you peace during this incredibly hard time.

Mrs. Swope was my first grade teacher and every time I think about my favorite teachers, she is number one. She touched my life and gave me the love of learning from the day I stepped into her first grade classroom. As I prepare to finish my Master's program in May, I am truly honored to have started my years of education with Mrs. Swope. I am so sorry for your loss.

Cliff and Jean I am so sorry to hear about Becky.  My condolences to you and the entire family.  I have tried to contact her for many years but havebeen unsuccessful.
