John Donald Benson

BENSON, JOHN DONALD, age 81 of Fairborn, passed away on Friday March 18, 2023 at the Soin Medical Center. He was born on August 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois to John and Alice (Frederickson) Benson, and they preceded him in death. On August 29, he married Karen Sue Bray.

John had a passion for his country and spent over 25 years in the United States Air Force, retiring as a Lt. Colonel. After retirement, he continued working as a Civilian Employee at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

John graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He later went on the get his Masters through the Air Force. He had a joy for music. While at Purdue, he was a member of the University Marching Band. He was involved with and sang in the Xenia Hospitality Chorus and Barbershop Quartet. He was a loving and caring Husband, Father and Grandfather and Brother.

He is survived by his wife, Sue, his sons Jay (Larissa) Benson and Michael (Sherry) Benson, his 3 grandchildren, Paige, Jaydon and Connor, and his sister, Joann Masi.

The family will receive friends at 12:30pm on Friday March 31, 2023 at First Church of Christ, 441 Ledbetter Rd., Xenia, Ohio. A Memorial Service will begin at 1:00pm.
