ALVIN DOUGLAS PRIDEMORE, age 80, a native of Paris, Kentucky and resident of West Chester, OH passed away peacefully on Friday, June 22, 2018. Alvin was born November 22, 1937 to Edwin and Karola Pridemore, both of Paris, Kentucky. Alvin is survived by his son Wesley D. Pridemore (57) of West Chester, OH and two granddaughters Morgan E. Pridemore (26) residing in Dayton, OH and Sarah K. Pridemore (24) residing in Bluffton, OH and his half brother Ralph (Dion) Castle. Alvin was a 1955 graduate of Bourbon County High School also receiving a BS in Education from Eastern Kentucky University in 1960 and a MS in Education in 1968 from Xavier University. Alvin started his career as a teacher of physical education and athletics coach at Triad High School before moving to the Mad-River Green Local School District in a similar capacity. Over the years, Alvin concentrated on school administration ultimately becoming the superintendent of the district until his retirement in 1994 after a distinguished 35 year career. Alvin also served his country as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Army Reserve as commander of the 435th Medical Battalion in Springfield, OH. Initially, starting at West Point he was an athletic instructor. In retirement Alvin enjoyed traveling with his wife Faye and spending time with his two granddaughters. Alvin was known for his generosity, but most importantly Alvin was a loving husband, a caring father and devout friend to many. Alvin is now with his beloved Faye as they embark on their next journey together. Alvin will truly be missed and will live eternally in the hearts of many. Friends may call in the Burcham Tobias Funeral Home, 119 E. Main St, Fairborn, OH for viewing on Thursday, June 28, 2018 from 5-8PM. Funeral services will also be held at Burcham Tobias Funeral Home on Friday, June 29, 2018 at 11AM. Interment will immediately follow at Enon Cemetery.
