William R. “Bob” Emerson, age 89, passed away at his home in Auburn on July 18, 2018. He was born on February 18, 1929 to William and Lura (Elmore) Emerson and was the oldest of four brothers. He was a 1948 graduate of Roseville High School, residing in Roseville for over 50 years. After serving on the city’s Park Commission followed by the Planning Commission, Bob was elected to the Roseville City Council in 1974. Bob was also a founding member of the Citrus Heights Rotary Club as well as a member of the club in Roseville. Prior to his joining the Auburn Parkside Church of the Nazarene, he was a member of the Roseville Nazarene Church. For 15 years, Bob owned and operated the Flying A Service Station in Roseville, followed by another 10 years as owner of Emerson’s TV & Appliance, also in Roseville. He then transferred his knack for making things work to the Formica plant in Rocklin where he worked as a mechanic and electrician for 10 years. Bob’s hobbies included fishing, hunting, and rock hunting which carried nicely over to his membership in multiple Rock & Gem Clubs, including Roseville , Nevada County, and Sutter Buttes. Bob is survived by Joyce Emerson, his wife of 45 years, son William (Marnice) Emerson, daughters Kathy (Russell) Shelton and Lynne (Greg) Headrick, step-children Jackie (Chris) Hoegel, Randy (Simone) O’Callaghan, Tim (Kelley) O’Callaghan, and Melanie Bazile-Ari, brothers Tom (Bobbie), Charles (Pat), and Harold (Susan) Emerson, as well as 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Family, friends, and others whose lives Bob touched are invited to the funeral service at Auburn Parkside Church of the Nazarene, 3885 Richardson Ave., at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018 followed by lunch and fellowship.
