

Walter Alfred Paprocki, 88, lost his battle with cancer on January 7, 2015, at his home in Citrus Heights, CA. He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Elizabeth “Betty”, their children Mary Ann Prince (Michael), Thomas (Amy), Janine Christian (William) and Stephen (Pamela). He was preceded in death by his son, Richard. He is also survived by grandchildren Kevin, Megan, Kimberly, Jessica, Amber, William, Sean and Sarah, sisters, Helen Anderson and Mary Karpenko and several nieces and nephews. Walt was born in Brooklyn, NY, on August 7, 1926, but moved with his family to Rome, NY, when he was 2 – and always considered Rome to be home. Following his service in the US Army, he was employed by the Federal government for 40 years, retiring in 1983. Although he became blind in recent years, he never let blindness limit his life. Until recently, Walt continued his daily walks and his active involvement in the Polish American Club of Sacramento, of which he has been president for many years. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and was Grand Knight of the 3rd degree as well as a member of the 4th degree Knights. Their love of travel took Walt and Betty to over 25 countries and on many cruises.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation Friday, January 16th from 4-7pm at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks. A celebration of his life with mass will be held on Saturday, January 17th at 10:00am at Holy Family Catholic Church, 7817 Old Auburn Rd, Citrus Hts, CA, followed by a reception at the Polish American Club, 327 Main St, Roseville, CA.
