Veda Vajesta Jolly of Fair Oaks, California passed away Nov 26, 2015; she was 94. She married Norm Jolly on Valentine’s Day, 1947. He preceded her in death in 2003. They were long-time, loyal members of First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks.
Born in 1921 on a farm near Marble Hill, Missouri, she was preceded in death by seven siblings, survived by Loren Slinkard of Cape Girardeau. Veda and Loren remained close and in regular contact.
Of her children, she left sons Ron (Darlene) and Jerry (Peggy), and daughters Karen Barber (Dave) and Rowena Durst (John). Sons Cliff and Tim passed away in 2011. Veda was blessed with ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Veda left home at a very young age for New Madrid, Missouri to work as a typist. During WWII her excellent clerical skills sent her on to the Pentagon as a top-secret cleared clerk.
She’ll be remembered for steadfast faith in the saving power of Christ, love of excellent grammar and a keen fashion sense.
Services are at 11 am Dec 14 at First Baptist Church Fair Oaks, followed by burial at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, at 1:30 pm.
