Steven was born in Oakland, CA in 1949 to Harold and Pauline Meyer and moved to the Sacramento area shortly after. Steven graduated from Grant Union High School before enlisting in the United States Army in 1968. Steven proudly served in the Vietnam War as a Flight Engineer and Gunner, being awarded 2 Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star, and the Army Commendation medal for exceptional meritorious actions.
In 1972, Steven married the love of his life, Jeannette Rowland, in Northern California. Together they raised three children in the same home for almost 40 years while working as an Electrician for the United States Postal Service. Steven is survived by Jeannette as well as his children, Amy, Stephanie, and Adam, all of whom miss him dearly and the life lessons he imparted on them. Steven took pride in being a parent, but was exceptionally proud of being a grandparent to Kai, Mya, Sofia, and Steven and bonus grandfather to Tucker and Cora. He was also an amazing father-in-law to Sean, Steve, and Heather.
Steven was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his wife, children and their spouses, grandchildren, his two sisters Linda and Janet, and many nieces, nephews and family members who miss him dearly.
Steven’s life and legacy will be honored on Friday June 28, 2024 at Divine Savior Catholic Church in Orangevale, CA, with him being laid to rest at Mount Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary in Fair Oaks, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations in his name can be made to a local organization that teaches children how to fish as Steven had a love for fishing and was seen as a natural born teacher.
