Passed away on December 11, 2011 after a long valiant struggle with chronic illnesses. He will be deeply missed. Born in Callicoon, New York on December 28, 1954, his family moved to California when young and he lived most of his life in the Los Angeles area. He attended Haynes Elementary School, and graduated from El Camino Real High School in 1972. He also attended classes at Pierce College. In 1975 he graduated from the University of Southern California with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and in 1980 received an MBA from USC as well.
He had a passion and flair for business and his career included positions at Teledyne, Inc., KPMG Peat Marwick, and California Federal Savings and Loan. He served as Chief Financial Officer at Amwest Insurance Group for several years before moving to Northern California where he became President and Chief Executive Officer of Financial Pacific Insurance Company.
Bob enjoyed books and traveling. Some of his fondest memories were of visiting Australia.
He is survived by his wife of twenty six years, Suzanne; his daughter, Carolyn; his son, William, his parents, Robert and Sallie Goodell of Woodland Hills, California; and his siblings Ann ter Haar, David Goodell, Mary Hayakawa, as well as many other relatives.
Services will be 1pm Sunday December 18, 2011 at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, 8201 Greenback Lane, Fair Oaks, Calif. with interment and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society (Robert C. Goodell Memorial Fund) would be sincerely appreciated.
