Born March 30, 1942 in Cheyenne Wyoming to parents Orville and Vola Horst; she passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on February 16, 2015 after losing her battle with Pancreatic Cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents, Orville and Vola, and her brother Fred Horst. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Dr. Charles Hugh Thompson; her daughters Brenda Gale Hasko (AJ), and Tolinda Vale Thompson Casillas (Victor); her son Charles Thomas Thompson; Grandchildren Michael, Sunnymarie, Kevin, James, Kathryn, Charles Benjamin, Francesca, Zachary, and Roman. She is also survived by her younger brother Edward.
A loving and giving soul, Ramona spent most of her time supporting her family and the people who were important to her. From being a constant support to her husband Hugh, working while he finished his education in becoming an engineer, to helping a friend on the financial of a temporary employment agency. She also worked as the Chief Financial Officer, working alongside her husband as co-owner of the engineering firm Hugh started. For nearly twenty years, she worked with Quest Securities before her retirement in 2011.
Apart from her work life, her loves were anything that involved her family. From sewing, interior decorating, home improvement projects, football (specifically the Dallas Cowboys, Miami Dolphins, and San Francisco 49ers), live theater, RV camping, Hugh’s boat, provided of course it was still in the driveway; she made her home and her family her first priority.
Even being forced to slow down due to her illness, she still lived by “life is too important to be taken seriously” and “No worry-It’ll work out” mottos and did her very best. She will be honored and celebrated on March 7, 2015 at 10:00am at Mount Vernon Memorial Park, located at 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks.
