Phillip Keith Hodge, a veteran of the Vietnam War and a longtime resident of Orangevale, CA, passed away on August 17, 2023, surrounded by his family. PK, as he was known, was born September 24, 1946, to George and Francis Hodge and attended Highlands High School before enlisting in the U.S. Navy, where he served as a Corpsman at the historic Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Bremerton, WA.
While serving in the Navy, he met and married his loving wife of 55 years, Sherry Hodge, on August 31, 1968, where she served as Corpswoman for the U.S. Navy. After completing his service in the Navy, PK and his wife returned to his hometown, Sacramento, CA., where they built their civilian life together, which included raising two children. PK went into business for himself in the logistics industry while Sherry continued her career in healthcare.
After their two children were grown, they enjoyed traveling around the country in their RV and living life to the fullest. They also participated in the annual Corpsman conferences, where they served and enjoyed lifelong relationships with fellow Corpsman whom they served with and had met along the way. In addition to traveling, PK's favorite activities were golfing, meeting with a group of friends known as the Breakfast Club, and serving as an Honor Guard at the Sacramento Veterans Cemetery with his dear friend Joe.
PK is survived by his wife Sherry, son Burke (Angel), daughter Kari (Mike), stepsisters Sharon and Doreen, stepbrother Mike, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nephews Tom, Greg, Wes, niece Michelle, and several great nieces and nephews. His death is preceded by his brother Kent and sister Kathie.
His family has organized a memorial service to honor PK's life and military service, which will be held at Mount Vernon Memorial Park and Mortuary on September 15, 2023 at 1:00 pm.
