Remembrance of my dearest Moana Magdalen Saiselu Meredith,
In 1972. As I was living with Eddie and Amy Meredith. It was my pleasure to realize that Moana was like a second mother to all her siblings. She worked hard taking care of the family business as I remember. Moana is a person who has a big heart, and is a loving person. We would go play golf on Sundays after church and that was her only day off, she would work from Mondays-Saturdays. We would come home after golf and prepare ourselves to go to the bakery. In 1993 I had a baby boy I couldn't come up with a name, Moana visited me and asked me if I had a name for the baby, I replied, No. At that time her mom and dad were in Hawaii for father Damiens funeral, so she asked me to name my baby boy Gavin Damien, and named her other nephew Alvin. In the year 2010, I went back home for my sister Tilomais' funeral, she would visit me with her home-made banana bread. We had lost the soul of the family only to realize how blessed we were to have ever had her in our life. Intensity and Pride that she love with, we would see in her son Saki's eyes. We would see some sparkle of determination and love you taught him in everything he had learned from you, which would be passed down to future generations to come. As I remember, Moana would pick me up and take me around the island and show me what has been happening back home and the destruction caused by a storm that struck back home. She would pick me up and we would go around passing flowers to our dearly departed family grave yard in Faga'alu, Nu'uli and Leone. To all her relatives Moana was an amazing and loving person. I can go on and on about her, but there is to many precious memories we shared together, that one paragraph can not hold. We will miss her, but at the same time learn a lesson from her. I have a box of all her letters we use to write to each other like crazy!!!. If I would have mentioned what we had done back in the days, she would have responded, "Yeah those are the good ole' times". She is always willing and dedicated to helping her family, and most importantly God were first in her Life. She now lives in Gloryland. She will truly be missed. We love you always.

I've been sitting here staring at the comment box not knowing where to start. It has not been easy digesting the fact that you are no longer physically here with us. The second you cross my mind I can hear your voice saying "Kikalaaa". Thank you for always being there for me with everything I ever did. Your sweet words of encouragement and pep talks helped me get through nursing school and I would not be where I am today without you. Not very many people are as lucky as I am to have an Aunt like you who truly does treat all of their nieces and nephews like their own. You have taught me so much and I am eternally grateful to you for that. Going back to Samoa won't be the same anymore without you at the house. I remember the last day I saw you as if it were yesterday. Not for a second did I think it would be the last time. I wish I could have seen you again before you left to be with our Lord but I take joy in the fact that I know we will be reunited again. I pray that you know how much you are loved and missed. Family gatherings definitely will not be the same without you there. I love and miss you Auntie Sa.

Moana Meredith was something more than just my Aunt, she was one of my role models. I never realized it when I was younger, but now I see it. She was always so kind and so giving. She had a sense of home surrounding her. Everywhere she went felt like home, felt so comfortable that you wanted to stay there. When she was admitted in the hospital here in California, I was sad. I didn't want her in a hospital, I wanted her back on her feet. My mom took us almost every other sunday to see her and tried to see her as much as we can, but everytime we went, I didn't know what to say. I was scared to except that she was very sick, that she might be there for a very long time, so I kept wanting to leave. I didn't want to be there because it was a constant reminder people dying and leave this earth, this life, and it was something I didn't want to except. When I found out that you had passed, I didn't cry because I refuse to believe it. I wouldn't believe it. We got to the hospital and when I saw you lying there, I kept expecting to see your chest move up and down with every breathe you take, but you never did. When we were at the rosary, then the funeral, it was then reality hit me and I realized you have moved on to a better life. Auntie Sa taught me something important growing up, it was always put God first, Family second, and yourself last. I love you Auntie Sa.Love Always, Carmen "Carmencita" Franco

You have been such a Loving and Caring Sister, you would always send Birthday cards and Holiday Greetings shows how thoughtful you were, Growing up you would scold me and tell on me all because you wanted what was best for me and I didn't realize that . Dearest Sis;
I still think that you are back home, and you are okay. The only thing is, I am still waiting for your call to see how we are doing and how the kids are doing.  I sure missed our conversations about anything but especially when you always say something deep in true samoan way and I had to ask what that means; you always explain it to where I would understand.  I will forever miss you and your big smile or that look that I know either to stay away when I was a kid or the look for us to have fun. I know that you are in a better place; but you will always be in our hearts and in our minds. You will always be our Angel in Heaven.I love you Sis and I want to say Thankyou for being my big Sis. It's been very difficult for me to come to terms that you are gone, because you seemed to be the person that was just "always there". You were more than just an aunt to everyone.  You were a mother figure to most of us.
I don't remember a milestone in my life that you weren't a part of.  I'm forever grateful for you and everything that you have done.
You are surely missed.  I know you are in a better place free of pain, and knowing you are smiling and enjoying good times with mommy, daddy, and the rest of our family who have departed.
Please continue to watch over us. I hope to live and continue the legacy you've left behind.

I will always cherish our sisterly moments especially, those mornings  when you drive to Tafuna (my place) with our breakfast. I sure miss you around this time beacause you will bring palolo sandwhich (palolo-sea worms is one of our delegacy  that we get once a year). i will always remember how you encourage me to participate in our church meetings just like our MOM, how she gets involved in church activities. Thank you sis for every thing that you have done for me and my family. I remember whenever I got the chance to see you Aunty Sa, you had this big smile and gave us all huge hugs because we lived so far apart. It felt like you cherished each moment and every hug you gave. Most of my memories of you are in the kitchen. I always woke up to your cooking and sometimes music would be playing. And you would always cook more than enough food for everyone. All the kids would sit down while the grownups stood around us and we would sing our prayers just like you had taught us. This happened every morning you came to visit. In Samoa the only difference was there were more people at breakfast, it just felt like a bigger family. You gave off the warmest feeling being around you and  ill always remember that. I miss you already.

Dear Moana, I am deeply grateful for our friendship.  Visiting with you in Carmichael was for me a gift of alofa from you.  Our conversations, checking out your wall of photos of your loved ones, hearing of your experiences and travels while living in Rome were precious. You were so patient with me by writing down some Samoan words and sayings for me to learn.

Despite your serious medical status, your strength and grace never wavered.  You've taught me a great deal about living with life's challenges and what love your sister Elsie held for you in your proper daily care.

Over time, you showed me in your notes and letters how very thoughtful and caring you are.  I learned later that your correspondence with your aiga and friends is legendary.  It comes from your loving family roots, deep abiding faith and the mana you have in your heart for others.

I'm reminded of our girlhood days at St. Francis Convent School and how we still share in the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi throughout the years. Whenever we sing our alma mater, I will think of you Mozo.  You wrote down these words for me to learn and I wish them to you now in return:

     "IA MANUIA LE PO, IE FA'ATASI LEA ATUA MA OE I LE LAGI."

Mahalo for the almost 50 years of wonderful memories. Starting at SF especially as a boarder, the reunions where we met your sisters, nieces, Mom and then Saki. I was fortunate to have been able to visit you in Carmichael. I always looked forward to seeing your beautiful smile but it was so difficult to leave. Thank you for sharing Saki with us and I will always keep in touch with him and Elsie. You have raised a fine young man who Loves God, knows the importance of being a Catholic and is so respectful to others. Saki would make a prefect Priest (if it is his calling). I miss you my friend, but you will live on through Saki and your family as there are so many stories to share full of love, laughter and tears. If I had my wish you would be promoted to Saint Mozo, but I do not have a front row seat yet with the Lord so help my out okay. I love you and we will meet up again someday, so make room for me.

There's not a day that goes by when I don't think of you. It's still so unreal knowing that you are no longer with us but I know you are in a better place. I will forever be indebted to you for all that you've done for me. I'll always remember the times we spent together when I was growing up. One of the fond memories I have of you was when we went to do laundry. You wanted to make sure we washed every single piece of dirty laundry, even the clothes on my back. You would make me take off my clothes at the laundromat so you can wash it and in the mean time, you'd make me get into the big laundromat sink so you can give me a bath. I would always get embarrassed but you would always tell me there's nothing to be embarrassed about because I have nothing to show.(lol) You taught me life lessons which I will in turn teach my own children. You are such a loving person and although I remember your constant yelling I know it all came from a loving place. You yelled and screamed hard but you loved and cared for others harder. You are such a compassionate person and I truly admire you.  There's still an emptiness I feel inside since you've been gone and I know I'm going to feel it even more this holiday season. Although you will no longer be with me physically, you will always be with me in spirit.  Daddy and mommy are happy that you've joined them in paradise and I'm happy to know you are one of the many guardian angels watching over me and my family from above. I love you so much and you'll forever be missed but your legacy will live on in my memories and in my heart. Rest easy my love and we will be together once again. I love you always and forever.

This Christmas is going to be different without you here, I'm going to miss our going out to pick up our Christmas tree and decorating it. Every night before I go to sleep I ask The Lord that someday very soon we will be united again in his everlasting kingdom. My dearest Mom, the years I've spent with you has truly been an inspirational and momentous years of my life, I've wished you could be here for many more years, but The Lord has a reason for calling you back into his arms. His garden has an empty space and he picks the best, which was you. I know you are watching over me, and looking after me. My birthday is in two months and I guess I won't be hearing a birthday song from you, and a birthday card, but it's alright because all those birthday songs you sang to me has a very special place in my heart. Well, my dearest mother I'll see you in my dreams tonight. Until we meet again. I Love You.

Dearest Sis, there isn't a day that goes by that I don't think of you.  I sure miss our visits and lunches.  Our talks and laughing over silly things. I will never forget the 3 years we had together, I THANK our HEAVENLY FATHER for giving us that time together.  I will always remember our days at St. Francis High School as well as the two years we attended Honolulu Business College.  Walking to the bus stop and smelling that fresh baked bread from across the bus stop; or you giving me some quarters to play the ping pong machine or paying for my bus fare because I had already spent my quarters on the ping pong machine.  Those were the good old days.
You are my hero Sis.  I admired how you ALWAYS think of the other patients whenever you get some goodies from friends or family.  Always GIVING and SHARING whatever you receive.  Our times at Mission Carmichael will always be precious to me.  You always make my day whenever I walk into your room and you give me that Beautiful Big Smile.

Dear Sweet Moana, -a very special lady who had a gift from God, and a special calling...she was one of the few invited by the Church to Rome and the Vatican. Dear Elsie, Sale and Meraski,

Moana will be dearly missed as I recall all the wonderful years shared with her at St. Francis and after.  Dorm life with Mozo is unforgettable as their was so much laughter and aloha among us from talk stories, smoking (your fault, Rosaaalia), to watching soap operas at lunchtime. She was a faithful friend and ever concerned for the kolohe ones.  I believe she kept us in her prayers those younger years and we will keep her in our hearts. Rest in love Mozo.
