Mary Ruth Parmer

Mary Ruth Woods Parmer passed away peacefully August 20, 2022 in Fair Oaks, CA. She was born January 22, 1932 in her grandmother’s house in Birmingham, AL to George and Jimmie Lee West. She married Robert Woods in August 1950 who preceded her in death in 1976. She found love again with Herman Parmer whom she married in July 1978 and who preceded her in death February 2007. Her son, R. Stephen Woods preceded her in death in January 2005 and brother, George West, Jr. in May 2021.

Mary Ruth was born and raised in the South but was whisked away to California when her first husband, Robert, was relocated. She enjoyed her jobs as the church secretary, organist and pianist. She later become a Realtor to work alongside her second husband, Herman Parmer. She loved to sew, square-dance, and once retired, RVing. She spent many weekends and summers with her young family camping. She enjoyed shopping and lunching with her girlfriends, setting a prime example for her daughter who enjoys the same. She is missed.

Mary Ruth is survived by her daughter, Cynthia Woods; her brother and wife, Jimmy and Sharon West, her grandchildren, Robyn Woods, Robert and Tabitha Woods; Joshua and Megan Thomas and Jessica Thomas; her eight great-grandchildren including the newest John B. Thomas; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces/nephews.

Mary Ruth’s funeral will be held Thursday morning, September 1, 2022 at 11am at First Baptist Church of Fair Oaks, 4401 San Juan Avenue, Fair Oaks, CA 95628.
