Joseph Ralph Redding (September 26,1932-October 4, 2019) was born in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. He joined the United States Air force at the age of 17, with the help of an adjusted baptismal certificate (and a helpful priest). He served the Air Force for 26 years 2 months and 15 days. Upon retirement he went to work as security for Lumberjack. He graduated from American River Junior College with an AA degree January 26th, 1977 and continued at CSUS for two more years.
While on tour in England, Joseph met Florence Elizabeth Marsh, fell in love, and married her on March 14, 1953 in Ravenna, Ohio. They had two children, Elizabeth Doris Redding McGraw, who married David McGraw and gave him three grandchildren (Matthew, Ryan and Cherylyn) and 3 great grandchildren (Hayden, Silas, and Emelyn with one more on the way) and Terrance Lee Redding who married Denise Dixon and gave him a grandchild, Mathew.
Joseph was a Master Mason for over 44 years. He was raised February 26th, 1975 in the old Union #58 Lodge. He was very much a part of the Oak Avenue Free Methodist Church until he had his stroke and moved to Vacaville with his daughter at which time he attended Allendale Union Chapel. He traveled, cared for his rose garden and exercised until his last day. He passed peacefully and will be missed by many. Services are 1:00 p.m., Monday October 21, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park.
