Jeffery W. Jackson 11/11/1950-2/26/2014 of Lincoln, Calif., born at Mather AFB on November 11, 1950, passed on February 26, 2014. He was predeceased by his parents Vaughn and Opal Jackson. He is survived by his brother Rod Jackson and two sisters Sherry Leonard and Kathy Jackson, a niece Christie Leonard, nephews Dan Leonard, Frank Leonard, Ben Jackson, Sam Jackson and numerous great nieces and great nephews. Jeff graduated with honors from Bella Vista High School. He received an associate of arts degree from American River College. He also attended UC Davis where he studied viticulture and oenology. His education did not end there; he took classes on subjects that interested him, all through his life. Jeff served in the US Navy during the Vietnam Conflict and was assigned to the USS Kittyhawk, where he served as an Aviation Electrician's Mate 2nd Class. His working career was in telecommunications where he worked for Pacific Bell, Roseville Telephone and AT&T (from which he retired). Jeff loved to travel; he visited Australia, Europe and Tahiti. After his retirement, Jeff spent many hours doing what he loved-gardening. Jeff was ahead of his time in his practice of organic gardening. He loved his "farm" in Lincoln which he shared with his dogs, chickens and goat. He served his neighbors and community with many generous hours donated to the 'Old Fruitvale School Hall & Association'. He will be greatly missed.
Graveside services will be held at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks on Wednesday, March 12 at 2pm. The family asks that donations be made to the 'Fruitvale School Association' P. O. Box 58, Lincoln, CA 95648.
A celebration of life in honor of Jeff will be held on March 16 at 2pm at Fruitvale School (3425 Fruitvale Road, Lincoln). Attendees are asked to bring ice-cream or cookies and memories of Jeff to share.
