Jeanette Marie Galloway

Jeanette Marie Galloway, age 82, passed away Saturday July 1, 2023. She was born May 21, 1941, in Oakland CA, to Joseph and Franke Porlier. Jeanette was a 1959 graduate of Holy Names High School in Oakland, CA. She then attended Dental Nursing School in San Francisco and remained in that field until her retirement. Jeanette moved with her family to Rancho Cordova, a community she loved, in 1966 where she made her home until 2021 before moving to Lincoln California to be close to her two sons. Jeanette loved music, especially jazz. She was an integral part of the Sacramento Dixieland Jazz Festival, and it was there she met Jim, the love of her life. Jim and Jeanette continued to pass along their love of jazz by working with the Sacramento Jazz Education Foundation Youth Programs and held fundraisers in their own backyard. Jeanette always looked for the good in everything, was eager to smile, laugh, or just sit and talk. Relationships were what was most important to her and she maintained so many throughout her life that continued the day formed, to this day.

Jeanette is survived by her sons, Mike and Tim, daughter-in-law’s Rita and Julie, sister Renee and her husband Bodie, brother Walt and his wife Laura, seven grandchildren, Adrien, Stephanie, Xavier, Blake, Mike, Robert, Brendan, and seven great grandchildren, Elise, Addie, Eden, Ava, Zeke, Dani, Romanee. Jeanette will be laid to rest the 14th of July, 2023, 01:00 pm, at Mount Vernon Memorial Park at 8201 Greenback Ln. Fair Oaks, California 95628. Celebration of life will take place in the fall date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Sacramento Jazz Education Foundation Teagarden Jazz Camp.
