Although he wasn’t my uncle, I’ve known him  as “Uncle Jack”,  since I was young, as he’d  come to the Shilshone “Reservation” to  play “cards” on the regular.   
Being a kid, I didn’t know what that was all about, but the faces up there,  round that noisy table,   they  were either smiling with a twinkle, or they were growling and eyeing their mates suspiciously.  :) 
What a warm, sweetheart of a wife in Lorraine, she and Betty,  always hugging and feeding everyone who was over, no matter!   
And then,  those super cool and loving kids, (who I grew up feeling or wishing I was related to,) his own 2 and their cool cousin Mona ( my “golden ticket”  to knowing this amazing family )
 , …I know for certain … Jack Cooper could not BE more pleased  with  the  legacy he quietly honed and left for his favorite humans to take with pride.   

As Jack’s family, God truly blessed you with one of his finest creations…   a pure, giving, soul.    I’ve no shame in admitting I have carried a hefty serving of  uncle-envy my entire  life.

I deeply regret not making time to  see you all these last many years.   My heart is with you and my prayers are for him.

I first met JC over 11 years ago on the badminton courts where we played and chatted, and he mentioned Pickleball to me. I had never heard of the sport and didn’t think about it too much at the time. What a surprise and joy to see JC again when I first went to the newly opened Rusch Pickleball courts. He naturally greeted me with his warm smile and made me feel so welcomed and comfortable even  though I was new to the sport. I will miss you, JC, and know how much you touched our lives in such a positive way. 

JC Jack you will be missed! We all enjoyed your company when the  VPBC ( Vintage Pickle Ball Club) met. This club was formed to get those of us over 70 together for breakfast or lunch once a month. Included in this group JC and Lorraine, Henk and Ellise, Lee and Linda, Steve and Judie. Rodney and Jackie, Dale, Howard and Eliane. 
I myself had a connection  with JC through our similar expenience with our heart conditions. We both belonged to the zipper club since we both had 4 way bypasses.
I wish I could ask him how he is handling my favorite song.

I met JC at Rusch Park playing Pickleball. He was always upbeat and a gentleman ! I always enjoyed playing with him as he was always playing with a smile. I am so sorry for his family’s loss and  our Pickleball family’s loss.  We will miss you JC .  Larry Hawe

Like many pickleball players, JC  was one of the first people I met at Rusch Park's pickleball courts in 2017. Easygoing with a smile, he was always willing to play with anyone who came along. JC was one of the original members of the Sunrise Pickleball Club, which was formalized in January 2017. He is member #20 in a club that has now had over 1850 members. Over the ensuing, years a lot of us have had the challenge of running back to return the lob that he popped over our head and just out of reach. But most of all, we had the opportunity to play with a true gentleman. Always a pleasure, and a treasure -- he is already missed.

JC was one of the first partners I played with over at Rusch Park and was very welcoming and fun to play with.  He always had a smile on his face, a twinkle in his eye and spreading good cheer. He will be missed.

I met Jack on the pickleball court at Rusch.  I thought I was the oldest of the people I’d been playing and others had been commenting on that when Jack rotated onto the courts. We partnered and at introductions he asked me my age. I told him I was 76.  He smiled and called me “youngster”!  Actually, I was just thinking the other day about asking if he’d partner with me in an age divided tournament. Jack must have lived a full life. Playing to the end. What could be a better way to go. I’m glad I had the opportunity to meet you, Jack

 J.C Was always such a fun character to play pickleball with at Rusch Park. He always had a smile on his face and was willing to play with anyone and everyone. I absolutely had no idea that he was 88 years old! I hope I am playing pickleball right up to the very end the way JC did. 🙏

JC, you were so amazing on the pickleball court.   I hope I have the energy you had when I reach your age.   I think you will hold the title of King of lobs forever. You will be missed. Thoughts are with your family at this difficult time

In spite of your age, I was surprised to hear of your passing because of the energy you exhibited on court. You were such a positive presence at Rusch. I wish I knew you better and am at a loss for not being able to say goodbye. 
My condolences to all who loved you.

I fondly remember JC. He was one of the first players I met when I started playing pickleball two years ago. His attitude on the court was always calm  and pleasant, win or lose. His smile always made me smile and I liked joking around with him.  I can envision him still enjoying his favorite game in his afterlife. 
I extend my heartfelt condolences to his loving family. 

I’m going to miss seeing your happy smile in the morning at Sunrise Pickleball club, JC. Seeing you run around trying your best at your age was truly an inspiration. My condolences to your friends and your family, as I’m sure a guy like you will be sorely missed. God bless you now and forever.

I met JC at the pickleball courts at Rusch Park and have played with him many times. He was such a nice man, so easy-going, and always with a smile. So many of us were impressed that a man in his 80's was out there with the rest of us participating in a sport that we all love. He was a bright light out there on the courts and he will be missed by so many of us that enjoyed his company and positive attitude. Prayers going up for JC.
