Freddie Wayne Davis was born July 17th, 1937 in Edna, Texas to Bert and Agnes Davis. He was one of 8 children. He later joined the United States Air Force where he had the opportunity to travel the world. It was while he was in the service that he met the love of his life Lynn Lewis. The two were married in 1960, welcomed their first born son Michael Wayne Davis in 1962 and their second born son Mark Layne Davis in 1964. Fred worked at the Blue Diamond Almond Growers for 39 years as The Superintendent of Sanitation and retired in 1999. Once the couple retired they purchased a fifth wheel and truck to pull their new home away from home. The couple spent many years traveling all over the United States with their dear friends.
Fred and Lynn became members of First Baptist Church of Orangevale in 1978 and he was ordained as a Deacon of in 1983. When he was not traveling, he spent his time here at the church, painting classrooms, setting things up for Sunday service and supervising numerous church projects. In 2005 the Lord put a desire in Fred’s heart to travel to Africa with International Commission, he was able to go on 11 trips to Africa and share the love of Jesus with the people. Fred had such a love and zeal for Jesus and would often say “Jesus changed my life, he can change yours too!”
Fred also loved his family very much. His grandchildren were the light of his life. He never left them without saying how much he loved them or how proud he was of them. Fred is survived by wife, Lynn; son Michael and his wife Diana; son Mark; grandchildren Danielle and her husband Ben Eger, Mikayla, MacKenzie; great grandchildren Benjamin Jr, William; 1 brother (J.W. Davis), 2 sisters (Florence Sappington and Dorothy Tilley) and countless nieces, nephews and cousins. He was dearly loved by his family and church. We will miss him very much.
