Diane Alice Buckendorf

Diane Alice Buckendorf (Vogt), age 84, passed away on January 2, 2024 in Folsom, California. Born to Fred Sr. and Freda Vogt on September 25, 1939, in Sacramento. Diane is preceded in death by her husband, Tim, of 61 years, her parents, and her siblings Fred Vogt Jr. and Janet Loving. She is survived by son Todd (Inga) Buckendorf of El Dorado Hills and daughters Sandy (Brett) Jones of El Dorado Hills and Susan Buckendorf of Folsom, as well as her five grandchildren: Kayla (Brett) Haynes, Lena (Eric) Bortnem, Amanda (Jesse) Owen, Kirsti Buckendorf, and Morgan Jones as well as her great-grandchildren Poppy Haynes and Olivia Owen; nieces and nephews.

Diane enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bridge, visiting with friends, attending yoga classes and water aerobics. She was also a skilled seamstress when she was young and enjoyed making outfits for herself and her children.

Diane loved her family and fur babies. She also loved her family vacations to Aptos and Maui and her travels to places like Europe, Asia, and Australia with Tim and friends.

Diane’s laugh was infectious. She was a genuinely happy person for whom the glass was always half-full. Her husband (and his jokes), children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought her much joy as did her yorkie, Chloe.

Diane graduated from Elk Grove High School and later attended California State University Sacramento where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in public administration in 1984. She held various jobs and ultimately retired from her position at the Library Accounting/Budgeting and Student Personnel Office at CSUS in January 2000. Outside of work, Diane and Tim grew up and learned valuable life lessons together such as unconditional love and patience. Already an incredible cook; Diane’s skills learned from her mother were accented by cooking classes. She enjoyed hosting her friends and family, and nourishing them with delicious meals.

Diane will always be remembered for her sweet and positive disposition. She was a classy woman and her husband lovingly called her Lady Di. She was also very stoic and proud, even in very difficult circumstances. Diane made a profound impact on the lives of many- family, friends, colleagues, and even strangers that will resonate through the lives she touched.

A Memorial Service will be held at Mt. Vernon Memorial Park & Mortuary 8201 Greenback Lane in Fair Oaks, CA on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at noon followed by a reception to celebrate Diane’s life; all are welcome.
