Clara Bryan was born in Madera, California on July 7, 1932 to Robert and Bertha Perdue. She was the eighth of ten children. Clara graduated from Turlock High School and went to work at McClellan Air Force Base where she met Charles Bryan, her husband of 59 years. They built their home in Citrus Heights where they lived their lives together and raised five children and a grandson.
Clara was always willing to give of herself to others. She was an active member of the Church of Christ where among many other things, she taught Bible class. She volunteered in many areas of Vacation Bible School and gave her time and energy putting together and delivering food baskets for the needy. She also put her heart into Sierra Bible Camp where she served as head cook for many years. Each December, Clara spent countless hours wrapping presents for Christmas Promise. She took great pleasure adding unique touches, especially on the children’s gifts.
Clara was an accomplished cake decorator. So many of her wedding cakes had the “Clara Bryan Flair.” She enjoyed sewing, puzzles of all kinds, and playing board games with family and friends.
Clara passed away on September 28, 2011 in her home. She went gently in her sleep. She is survived by her husband Charles; four children: Tristen, Tim, Mary, and David; six grandchildren: Gary, Christopher, Angela, Jonah, Daniel, and Renee; and two great-grandchildren: Cayden and Cruz.
