Celeste Douglass Fatheree was born in Westoff, Texas to Ada Goodson and Preston Fatheree. She passed away in Elk Grove, California on September 8, 2018, just short of her 101st birthday. Celeste was the third born. Her six siblings are Sidney Fatheree, Milton Fatheree, Gladys Lewis, Imogene Cephas, Bernice Wilson and Carlton Fatheree. All have preceded her in death. Celeste attended Jack Yates High School in Houston, Texas. She then attended St. Phillips College in San Antonio and Los Angeles City College. From Los Angeles Celeste moved to Sacramento, Ca. where she accepted a job with the Department of the Air Force at Mather Air Force Base. Upon moving to Sacramento Celeste met and married Carlton W. Jones. Celeste and Carlton were married until his death. Celeste worked at Mather for 33 years until her retirement. After retirement she became a real estate sales person. In addition to real estate she traveled with her sister Imogene to Spain and Alaska. In 2011 Celeste celebrated a family reunion in Lincoln City, Oregon. Celeste was a life member of the NAACP. She was affiliated with the Les Beaux Arts Social and Charity, and belonged to St. Andrews Methodist Episcopal African Church. She is survived by her step-son Carlton C. Jones, and her step-daughter, Diane G. Norman and their families. She is further survived by her nieces and nephews Susan Fatheree, Pat Lewis, Cynthia Lewis, Ronald Lewis and Gary Lewis. The family wishes to thank Tessie Richcreek and the staff at Diamond Oak Guest Home in Elk Grove Ca. for their attentive, and loving dedicated care over the past years. Celeste will be laid to rest at Mount Vernon Memorial Park in Fair Oaks, California where she will join her husband and sister.
