Vera May (Pratt) Moser was born January 31, 1923 to Vern and Gertrude Pratt in St. Paul Minnesota. She was the second of 5 children, 4 girls and 1 boy. Vera grew up in several different towns and cities across the Midwest as her Dad looked for work and tried many different occupations to keep the family going.
Vera graduated from Rock Rapids High School in Iowa and got a job working at Western Union as a stenographer to support herself as she attended school at Simpson College as a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Vera quit school during her second year and moved to Pullman Washington to help her sister who was pregnant with her first baby. It was there that she met the love of her life Leo. They were married a year later and began to raise a family, he as an employee of the health department and she as a dedicated mother. They were married 62 years and had five children.
As a mother Vera lived her life for her family. All of her activities involved caring for her husband and children. She always involved us in all of her home making activities from cooking meals and baking and making candy to decorating for every holiday and birthday. She was a den mother for Cub Scouts and a blue bird leader and mint distributer for Campfire girls. As we got older she got us all involved in our church youth group (CYO) and became an advisor and religious education teacher. She was Youth Leader of the year, one year for the Archdiocese of Seattle. Mom was also active in many church organizations, always baking for every bake sale, a member of the funeral committee, the choir for over 40 years, a member of parish council, liturgy committee, Alter Society, guild member and many others.
In spite of her huge involvement with the church she managed to be there for us whenever we needed her. She was a tireless cook at every family gathering and would refuse to rest or sit until everyone was taken care of. She and dad baby sat our children and took us in when ever we needed support. They were always available when ever we needed them. We all miss her dearly.
Vera is survived by her five children John Moser, Louann Moser-Reyes (Fred), Jane Erickson (Slater), Vince Moser (Julie), and Patty Olson (Greg); 21 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
