Stanley J. Mitchell passed away peacefully at his home on July 31, 2011. He was born to Stan and Virginia Mitchell on May 7, 1944 in Everett. Stan graduated from Everett High School in 1962. He enjoyed playing sports in high school and remained a sports enthusiast throughout his life. He graduated from Central Washington University and became a bank examiner and stockbroker. He became a Finance Manager for a department in the City of Everett and retired in 2002. Stanley followed the stock market in retirement and truly enjoyed talking about investments and market trends with friends sharing ideas whenever asked. He also enjoyed playing golf and travels to warm sunny places like Palm Springs and Maui. A recent trip to Washington D.C. with friend Bill Lopp and family was a special memory.
Stan was a great fan of Notre Dame football and a highlight was seeing a game in South Bend with his friend Pat Johnson. He looked forward to trips to Reno especially with friends for the first weekend of the NCAA Basketball Tournament. He followed horse racing and was a partner in owning several horses through the years.
Special memories include the family vacations during the summer at Lake Chelan. He looked forward to the Mitchell family Christmas gatherings and with his own family for Christmas Eve celebrations.
Stan is survived by his devoted wife of thirty-seven years, Anne; his sister, Sally Barnum and brother-in-law Eric; sister-in-law, Nancy Young; his children, Mark and Lori Mitchell; four grandchildren: Matthew, Caitlin, Brendan and Briana; and niece, Lesley and nephews, Michael and Patrick.
Stan truly appreciated the importance of family and friends and particularly his special friends through the years Mike Dire, Pat Johnson, Ralph Brigman, Bill Lopp, and Jim Miller.
Facing health challenges, Stanley received wonderful care from Dr. Thibert, Dr. Congdon, Dr. Slosberg and the support of Shelly Egging and Sylvia Horsch.
Stanley has requested Memorial gifts be made to Partners in Palliative Care c/o PHHC Foundation, 2731 Wetmore Avenue, Suite 500, Everett, WA 98201.
At Stanley’s request a private memorial service will be held at a future date.
