Ruth Ann Duffy, 77, of Everett, WA passed away peacefully on February 10th, surrounded by her family and loved ones. Ruth grew up in Somerville, Massachusetts attending St Joseph’s Elementary School and graduated from St. Joseph’s High School. Upon, graduation from high school she attended Boston State College for a year before moving to Long Beach, California. She spent a couple of years in Long Beach where she met her husband Charles before relocating to Washington State. She continued her education earning her BA from Central Washington and Master’s Degree from Lesley College in education. She worked as a 1st grade teacher before transitioning to a Reading Recovery specialist. Ruth spent most of her 20 plus year career at Presidents Elementary in Arlington WA. She loved teaching children, reading, the performing arts, spending time with her family and traveling. Ruth will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Ruth was predeceased in death by her father, Francis M Dullea, her mother Shirley Dullea, and Grandmother Alice Delay. She is survived by her husband Charles, her son, Robert Duffy, (wife Stephanie) of Great Falls Montana. Her son Ryan Duffy (wife Amber) of Kirkland WA. Ruth also leaves behind her precious grandchildren Jack and Abby Duffy, step grandchildren Daryn Goodman, Ellie and Jackson Wolf. She also leaves behind her sister Irene Clough and her son Peter Hemmerdinger (wife Jackie) grandchildren Cassie and Peter of Pelham NH, brother Frankie Dullea (wife Shirley) of Glendale, Rhode Island. Ruth also loved spending family time with Mandy Jurvakianen (husband Randy) and their children Collin, Aidan and Zoe of Lake Stevens, WA
Ruth had many friends that she enjoyed working, traveling, and going to the theater with.
A celebration of life for Ruth will be held Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home and Cemetery, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203
Friends and family are invited to the celebration. A cemetery interment will be private for family only. In lieu of flowers please donate to the charity of your choice in Ruth’s name.
