Rita Cecelia Pederson, a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother passed away on September 29th, 2023. She was born on March 12th, 1934, in Portland, Oregon, to Alfonso Francis and Cecelia Amelia Verbout. Rita's life was filled with love, laughter, and a deep devotion to her family.
Growing up in Linnton, Oregon, Rita's path crossed with that of her soulmate, Gene (Pete) Pederson. On July 3rd, 1953 Rita and Pete exchanged vows, embarking on a wonderful journey together. Their marriage was a testament to their unwavering commitment and enduring love. Family meant everything to Rita and Pete, and their children were the center of their world.
Rita leaves behind a legacy of love and a lifetime of cherished memories. She is preceded in death by her husband Gene (Pete) Pederson, her parents Alfonso, and Cecelia Verbout, and her brothers Mike, Johnny, Alfonso, and Bernard Verbout. She is survived by her two sons, Stephen (Beth)Pederson and Russell (Dannette) Pederson, and her daughter, Amy (Mark) Christianson. Rita's presence in her children's lives was a source of strength and inspiration, and her unconditional love will forever echo in their hearts.
As a grandmother, Rita brought joy and warmth to the lives of her four grandchildren: Kelsey, Emily, Lilly, and Samuel. She embraced her role with boundless love, creating lasting memories and imparting valuable life lessons. Rita's grandchildren were a source of immense pride and joy.
Rita's life was not only marked by her dedication to her family but their friends too. She was a generous host, and always enjoyed throwing the best parties! Their superbowl parties were second to none! In her leisure time, Rita found joy in the simple pleasures whether it was sewing, traveling, decorating, or cooking for her family.
As we mourn the loss of Rita, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and the love she shared. We take solace in knowing she is enjoying a martini in heaven with the love of her life Pete (Papa).
