It is with great sadness that the unexpected death of our beloved Patricia Bovey is announced. She was a loving wife to Gary Bovey, mother of adoring sons and daughters, and grandmother to cherished grandsons and granddaughters, all of these whom she embraced enthusiastically.
Her sudden passing on December 2nd, 2023 while visiting family in Florida has left a giant hole in the hearts of all of those fortunate enough to know and love her and she will be greatly missed by all.
Her passions, simple in nature, provided her with the most tremendous memories full of laughter and love. Always family oriented, as was her heart, her favorite things to do involved camping in her RV at popular local campgrounds as well as trips to surrounding resorts in the Puget Sound area. When the mood struck and with the occasional need for more wide open spaces, a cross country trip by train (5) with our dad was a highly desired and enjoyable adventure.
Her love of sports was unreserved. For her it was effortless. From her earliest years her father Leo Smasal nurtured her in the love of the game, regardless what that ball game may be. She proudly proclaimed her ownership of a Green Bay Packers stock certificate along with her prized number 4 jersey signed by famed quarterback Brett Favre. You could always find her talking football or baseball whenever the opportunity presented itself and with anyone who shared the same natural affinity.
And then there was Gonzaga! She never missed a game and cheered their successes with enthusiasm and comforted herself among the kids in their losses.
The pinnacle for Pat was when she achieved her greatest dream. In what would be the trip of a lifetime, and perhaps the one thing that could top her 2019 visit to the National Football Hall of Fame, mom walked through the entrance of Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. There, in September of 2022, she attended the opening day home game where she watched her beloved Green Bay Packers win out against the Chicago Bears.
To all those closest to her, the ones in her circle of fantasy sports and all football and baseball friends alike, we cannot express our gratitude enough for keeping the sports flame alive in her life.
She is missed beyond measure greater than any sense of loss she experienced when one of the children moved away breaking her heart. She yet had opportunity for phone calls and trips to see them. But she as we knew and know life must go on and her love for all only grew stronger. She is survived by her loving husband Gary, her 2 sons and daughters in-law, her 5 daughters and sons in-law, 13 grandchildren, and multiple nieces and nephews.
Mom, we love you 4EVER. GoPackGo.
