Mark passed away peacefully on April 2, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a hard-fought battle with COPD and cancer.
Mark is survived by his wife of 48 years, Diane Mueller, his children, Lisa Alteio (Marc), Matt Mueller (Thu), his grandchildren, Holden Alteio, Francesca Alteio,
and Maya Mueller, his sister, Leah Vitcovich (Randy) and his brother Chris Mueller (Joella).
Mark was born to Noel and Nancy Mueller and grew up in Edmonds, WA. He graduated from Meadowdale High School in 1965, where he was Student Body President and active in sports. He received his BA from the University of Washington in 1969, and his MBA from the University of Puget Sound in 1975.
Mark served in the Army from July 20, 1969 until June 30, 1977. He graduated from the US Army Engineer Officer Candidate School in July 1970, as a Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corp, and later was promoted to Captain. He was stationed at Fort Ord, CA, Seoul,
South Korea, and Fort Lewis, WA. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal in 1973, Regular Army Commission in 1976, and the Meritorious Service Medal in 1977.
After his military career, Mark went on to hold positions in both
Human Resources Management
and Operations Management in the Food Service Industry, until his retirement in June, 2011.
Of all the things Mark loved to do, spending time with family and friends at the Lake Chelan summer home was his favorite. He enjoyed taking his son and daughter water skiing, and his son-in-law and grandkids tubing. So many great memories and happy times were had there with Mark, and will remain in our hearts forever.
A Celebration of Mark’s Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., on May 6, 2017, at St. Thomas Episcopal
Church in Medina, WA.
