Linda Gail DeSalvo, age 74, of Everett, Washington passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2023.
The youngest of eleven children, she was born June 12, 1948 on Strawberry Lane in Kent, Washington to Irby and Lois Haney. The family later relocated to Tieton, Washington where they owned and operated a fruit orchard. In 1965, Linda graduated from Highland High School in Cowiche, Washington.
Shortly after this, Linda married and lived briefly in Boston, Massachusetts, until returning to Central Washington and building a life in Ellensburg. It was here that her two sons, Danny and Billy Kring were born and raising them became the greatest joy of her life. While raising her sons, Linda attended Central Washington University and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She went on to teach Business Education at Everett High School for the next thirty years. She was a passionate teacher who touched the hearts of her students and took pride especially in giving them useful tools for their careers.
In 1993, Linda met and married the love of her life, James “Jim” DeSalvo. Together, they followed their passions, sailing, skiing, and travelling around the world. After living in Woodinville, Washington for a number of years, Linda and Jim embarked on what was to be their great adventure. Selling their home, they moved on to their sailboat, Liebling, and in September of 2010 they sailed south from Everett. They spent the next five years cruising up and down the Pacific coast, from San Diego to Guatemala. In August of 2019 Linda and Jim traveled to Italy and visited Jim’s close Italian relatives who fell in love with Linda and she with them. Linda loved being immersed both in the cultures of the places they visited and within the community of other boaters. From friends met in travels, to sunburnt grandchildren, Linda took great joy in welcoming guests aboard to share in their adventure.
Linda’s kind and welcoming nature that allowed her to touch the lives of so many close friends and loved ones was a defining part of her life. All that knew her felt her vibrancy and warmth as the hostess of countless parties; they knew the extent of her generosity and compassion; they knew the joys she took in spending time with friends and family; they knew the meals she made would be phenomenal in taste, but unsurpassed in company; they knew the depth and breadth of her stories; and most of all, they knew her heart contained an unending amount of love for all around her. This love is still present and will remain in the hearts of those she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her son Dan; her grandson Brice; brothers Kenneth, Jay and Larry (her twin); and sisters Wanda, Dorlis, Bonnie, and Donna.
Linda is survived by her loving husband Jim; her son Bill Kring and his wife Colleen; two sisters, Susan and Tina and her brother Ed; three stepsons, Mark, Sal, and James DeSalvo; and one stepdaughter, Robin Willins; twelve grandchildren and one great grandchild. She also leaves a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family.
