James Haines was born on June 24, 1929 to Albert and Edna Haines in Glendive, Montana. He went to be with the Lord on January 13, 2018. His parents moved from Washington to Forsyth, Montana in 1947 where he attended High School and met his future wife, Barbara Lamm. They were "high school sweethearts". They graduated in 1948 in Forsyth and were married in March 1949. They lived in Miles City, Montana, where Jim worked for the Miles City Star newspaper as a printer. He also apprenticed and worked in Norfolk, NE, Glendive and Great Falls, Montana for several years. Jim always wanted to return to Washington and they eventually moved back to Everett, Washington where he was employed by the Everett Herald as a printer from 1970-1990 when he retired. His hobbies were many. He loved doing woodworking and made many pieces of furniture. He also enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. Jim and Barbara attended the Assembly of God church until their health prevented them from some activities. Jim was a Board Member in his church, taught "Royal Rangers" boys' club and was a Junior High Sunday School teacher. Jim liked roller skating, played the guitar and harmonica. He was fond of country western music. His family and friends enjoyed his dry and mischievous sense of humor. Jim and wife had many good times and enjoyed meeting new friends during retirement years. They went camping in Oregon, California and visited Mexico. Jim will be greatly missed, but not forgotten. Jim is survived by his wife, Barbara, of 68 years and his three children and their spouses: Cheryl (Bill Caudle) Mark Haines, Jay (Lori Haines); eight grandchildren: Kim (Jim Friday), Chad Caudle, Suzie (Paul Phillips), Taylor Haines, Tanner Haines, Micah Haines, Jenine (Roger Cayou), Sierra Haines. He also has fifteen great grandchildren. Jim has three surviving sisters: Joyce Squires of Helena, MT, Patricia Garvin (Ron) of Helena, Rosalie McManus (Paul) of Snohomish, WA. He has several cousins and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Albert Haines, his mother, Edna Peacock, two brothers, Dick Haines and Dennis Otter, sister, Alice Campbell, step-mother, Clara Haines and step-father, Jim Peacock. Many thanks to Quilceda Creek Manor Adult Family Home and workers for their gentle and loving care as well as the dedicated staff of Evergreen Hospice. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018, at 1 p.m., at the Lake Stevens Assembly of God Church, 9805 31st Pl NE, Lake Stevens, WA 98258.
