He was born December 30, 1930 in Everett to John and Marie Cassidy. Jim was a graduate of Everett High School and the “President for Life” of the Class of 1948. He graduated from Gonzaga University in 1952. Jim served in the US Army during the Korean War.
Mr. Cassidy owned and operated Cassidy Funeral Home until 1979 when they merged with Purdy & Walters to form Purdy & Walters with Cassidy. He was the Manager for many years and Senior Director until he was hospitalized on the 28th of December.
Jim was a Life Member of the Everett Elks #479 and Past Exalted Ruler (1975); Past President of the Everett Golf & Country Club (1979); Life Member of the Everett Knights of Columbus #763 and Life Member John F. Kennedy Knights of Columbus Assembly 4th Degree; and a 30 year member of the Everett Rotary Club. He was proud of his Irish Catholic Heritage and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help and Immaculate Conception Parishes.
Jim is survived by his loving family, the mother of his children and best friend, Carol Cassidy; son and daughter-in-law, John and Janna Cassidy of Edmonds, WA; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Chad Crowley of Lake Stevens, WA; son, Tom Cassidy of Everett; brother, Robert “Bob” Cassidy of Portland, OR; former brother-in-law, Ron (Carol) Zaretzke of Mukilteo; his five wonderful grandchildren, Chase, Connor, Carson, Quinn and Camryn and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at Purdy & Walters with Cassidy Funeral Home at Pacific and Wetmore, Everett.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. January 16, 2013 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help 2617 Cedar Ave. Everett WA 98201. Reception will follow at the Everett Golf & Country Club. Private Graveside Service will be at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park, Everett, Washington.
