Glenn passed away unexpectedly at the age of 94 on February 11, 2014 in Everett, WA. He was born to William T. and Flora E. Griffin, a pioneering family in Everett, on May 31, 1919. He was married to Frances E. Routledge from May 15, 1941 until her death on June 3, 1999. He is survived by his son, Glenn Jr.; son, Tom (Evelyn); sister in law, Mary Routledge, Everett; daughter in law, Mary Ann Griffin, Ketchikan, AK; Bill and Diana Routledge of Mukilteo. He was preceded in death by his son, Jim who died in 2004. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Kevin and Sean (Jim) and Aaron and Niky (Tom), as well as four great-grandchildren. Although Glenn was born in Everett, he spent much of his youth on the Hoods Canal during the logging boom in the 1930's before moving back to Everett for high school. He was a pilot and radioman during WW2 with duty in Texas, Montana, California and South Dakota. After the war, he went to work for the Puget Sound Log Scaling and Grading Bureau as a Log Scaler. He was first sent to Salkum, WA. where sons, Glenn Jr. and Jim were born. In the mid 1950's he was sent to head the operation in Ketchikan, Alaska where son, Tom was born. Moving back to Everett in 1968, he retired in the early 1980's. When he wasn't working around the house, he spent much of his retirement traveling to far off lands with Franny like Europe and Korea to visit his son, Glenn Jr., Hawaii and Mexico were also on his list of favorite places. However Glenn was happiest when surrounded by his family. He would cradle his grandchildren, singing softly the words to "The Strawberry Blonde." He was a self-made man, strong and disciplined in everything he did. A leader of men. But everyone who knew him respected him for his love and compassion for everyone he knew. Glenn will be missed. A time of visitation will be held Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 10 - 5 p.m. and Wednesday, 9 - 11 a.m. followed by services at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent at 1:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to Purdy & Walters with Cassidy, Everett.
