Born on July 28, 1966, in Tamuning, Guam to Roque Sablan and Quintina Flores Cruz, Edward grew up in the heart of Toto Gardens—"the ghetto” O’G’s, you know who you are—where his vibrant personality and boundless energy were shaped by the spirit of the island and its people.
From an early age, Edward found joy in the natural beauty of Guam. He was an avid spearfisherman and surfer, often found in the water soaking in the serenity of the sea. These passions reflected his deep connection to the island and its rhythms, something he would carry with him throughout his life.
Edward attended George Washington High School, where fate introduced him to his high school sweetheart, Kathy. Their love story, one of deep connection and commitment, blossomed over 41 incredible years. Together, they raised three amazing children—Nathan, Cody, and Christina—each of whom carries forward Edward’s spirit, wisdom, and sense of creativity.
A true jack of all trades, Edward had a knack for fixing anything broken, and his hands told the story of a man who could build, restore, and create. He adorned his family’s home in his favorite colors, green and beige, and filled it with pieces of his heart—artwork, wood carvings, and his unique style. His drawings and craftsmanship were not just hobbies but expressions of the deep, artistic soul within him.
Edward also had a deep love for cars, especially his prized Jeep, which was more than just a vehicle—it was a symbol of freedom and adventure, both things Edward valued dearly.
Yet beyond all of his talents and interests, it was Edward’s love for his family that shone brightest. He took great pride in being present, teaching his children life’s important lessons—not just about how to fix or build things, but how to love, how to express through art, and how to be kind and grounded human beings. He shared not only his skills but his heart, and that legacy lives on in them.
Edward is survived by his loving wife Kathy; his sons Cody and Nathan, and Nathan’s wife Paulina; and his cherished granddaughter Jinora and his daughter Christina; He also leaves behind a host of extended family as he comes from a big family of brothers and sisters and was the youngest of the boys; His family and his lifelong friends whose lives he touched with humor, heart, and humility.
His life was a masterpiece of authenticity and devotion. Edward Luis Flores Cruz will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever celebrated.
Until we meet again, rest easy.
A visitation service for Edward will be held Saturday, April 19, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203.
