Elizabeth "Jean" Nielsen, age 84, passed away on May 9, 2024. Born on June 1, 1939, in Nampa, Idaho, to Orville and Grace Morris, Jean’s early life was marked by frequent relocations due to her father's work, eventually settling in Moses Lake, Washington, where she graduated from high school.
A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Jean dedicated her life to serving others. She was actively serving as a counselor in the Relief Society at the time of her passing. Jean and her husband, Weston Nielsen, whom she married in 1972 in the Idaho Falls Temple, embarked on numerous missions for the church. Together, they contributed to the Family History Center in Salt Lake City, worked on microfiche records for genealogy in Orlando, Florida and London, England, worked in the San Diego Mission Office, and provided family history support online.
Jean was a homemaker for many years, deeply cherishing her role within her family. Her passions for family history, genealogy, gardening, playing the flute and recorder, hiking, sewing, quilting, and wildflowers enriched her life and those around her. After graduating from college, she taught home economics in Moses Lake, Washington, later channeling her skills and knowledge to teach early morning seminary to high school-aged students.
From her first marriage, Jean has two daughters, Cynthia Hudson and Susan Stull. After marrying Weston Nielsen they lived in Everett, Washington the rest of their lives.
Jean is survived by her sisters, Alice Hyer, Marian Pendlebury, and Orva Warnick; her daughters Cindy Hudson and Susan Stull; grandchildren Lindsey Vichitnand, Elyse Clark, Erin Hudson, Savanah Ronnie Hudson, Joseph Stull, Jacob Stull, Caleb Stull, and Rebecca Zundel; and great-grandchildren Aurora Vichitnand, Leah Vichitnand, Makenna Vichitnand, Madeline Vichitnand, Isaac Clark, Jax Boyle, Bradley Schaeffer, Lily Shoemaker, Asher Shoemaker, Kai Stull, Mya Stull, Stephen Stull, Lana Stull, and Gracie Zundel. Besides her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband, Weston Nielsen.
Jean will forever be remembered for her selfless service, boundless love for family, and unwavering faith. Her contributions have left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those who had the honor of knowing her. Her family, friends, and church community will hold her in their hearts forever.
A woman of valor who can find? For her price is far above rubies … strength and honor are her clothing … she opens her mouth with wisdom; and the law of kindness is on her tongue … her children rise up, and call her blessed … many daughters have done valiantly, but you rise above them all … a woman that fears the LORD, she shall be praised.
Proverbs 31:10, 25-30

Each life that touches ours for good
Reflects thine own great mercy, Lord;
Thou sendest blessings from above
Thru words and deeds of those who love.
What greater gift dost thou bestow,
What greater goodness can we know
Than Christlike friends, whose gentle ways
Strengthen our faith, enrich our days.
When such a friend from us departs,
We hold forever in our hearts
A sweet and hallowed memory,
Bringing us nearer, Lord, to thee.
For worthy friends whose lives proclaim
Devotion to the Savior’s name,
Who bless our days with peace and love,
We praise thy goodness, Lord, above.
