Dennis was born in Spokane on June 6, 1938, to Gratten and Dorothy Sexton. He had four siblings, Greg, Bob, Trisha, and Carole. Dennis graduated from Gonzaga Preparatory School and Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington.
Dennis was a devoted family man who loved his wife, Marilyn, and her four children, Michael, Rick, Bobby, and Lisa, as well as his four children from his first marriage to Linda P Sexton, Stephen, Annemarie, Sherry, and Michael. He was delighted to have many grandchildren, including Tanner, Sydney, James, Lucas, Madeline, and Ashley. In 2022, he became a great-grandfather to Waylon, with another great-grandchild due in 2023.
Dennis served his country with distinction as a full colonel in the US Army and ended his military career as Chief of Staff for over 10,000 troops in the 124th USARCOM. He was also a veteran government administrator for Medicare/Medicaid and supported Indian Affairs for the Pacific Northwest.
In his personal life, Dennis was an avid racquetball player, boater, fisherman and a fan of the Seattle Seahawks. He was a devout Catholic and a proud member of his community. He ran 26 Bloomsday Races in Spokane and was always up for a challenge.
Dennis will be deeply missed by all who knew him. We take comfort in the fact that he will be inurned in Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, Washington, where he will rest in peace. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him, and may he rest in eternal peace.
