Davis Rainville

Davis was born to John and Rosebud Watson in Bozeman, MT on July 27, 1933 and lived her youngest years on the family ranch. When Davis and her sister reached school age, the family moved to Manhattan, MT. The family later moved to Deer Lodge, MT where she graduated from Powell County High School and first met Thomas. She made life-long friends from grade school onwards, sending Christmas cards to many for decades.

At the University of Montana, Davis was the President of Associated Women Students and was proud to be a Delta Gamma. She graduated from the University of Montana as a Registered Dietitian, completing an internship with the Multnomah County Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Her first job was at St Vincent Hospital in Billings, MT.

Davis married Charles R. (Dick) Joy in 1957. Their two daughters Janné and Jannette were born in the same Bozeman hospital where their mother was born. Davis supported Dick throughout his career with the U.S. Forest Service, moving the family from Gardner, to Missoula, to the Bay Area in California, and on to Northern Virginia near Washington, D.C.. Davis was active with the Foresters’ Wives.

After their divorce, Davis returned to school to renew her Registered Dietician License and went to work at at the George Washington University Hospital as a Dietician primarily on the oncology and Aids wards and counseling mothers in the WIC program.

In Mukilteo, she made many dear friends and was active with the Bridge Club, Gourmet Club, the Saint John’s Guild, the Everett Library Book Club, Everett Symphony, Master Gardeners, and as a P.E.O. member. Davis was a member and leader of the Assistance League of Everett working in the Thrift Shop to fund the important School Bell program.

Davis reconnected with Thomas Rainville. They fell in love and were married in May of 1986. All seven of their children participated in their wedding at Saint John Mission, Mukilteo, WA. She claimed all of Thomas’ children as her own family: Jody, Billy Kay (d.), Maggi, Ross (Dian), and Renée (Ken), their ten grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Together Davis and Thomas enjoyed traveling the world for Rotary International District 5050.

Her parents and brother-in-law Sandy preceded her in death. Her sister Joan, her two nephews John (Vicki) and David still live in Montana, as do her daughters Janné and Jannette (Jon). Her husband, Thomas Rainville, continues to live in Mukilteo.
