Beverly Jean Imsland

Beverly Jean (Miller) Imsland, 87, of Monroe, WA departed this world for her heavenly home on December 23, 2017. She was born in 1930 in Wenatchee WA to Jim and Billie Miller. The family lived in Entiat, Leavenworth and eventually settled in Snohomish WA where she graduated from high school and following graduation worked as a telephone operator in Everett. It was there that she met Bud Imsland, an Iowa farm boy, on a blind date and they married in 1950. Making Snohomish their home, they raised their family, Karen, Don & Mark in a rural setting and lived there for 50+ years. Husband Bud passed away in 2009 and in 2013 Beverly moved to Merrill Gardens (now Brookdale Senior Living), an assisted living community in Monroe WA. She lived out her years there enjoying the activities, friendships and the loving care the facility provided.

Beverly was a loving daughter, wife, mother and friend. She worked as a homemaker for several years and when the children were older, worked at Berryland Packers, Snohomish in the summers and then Snohomish School District, starting out as a recess monitor and eventually becoming the counseling secretary at Snohomish Junior High for several years. She thoroughly enjoyed working with the students and staff but when the time came, she retired and moved on to more creative endeavors. Beverly was very resourceful and had always sewn, knitted and crocheted but in retirement took up the art of quilting. It became her passion. She had a gifted eye for color and design so naturally became a master quilter. She created a legacy of beautiful quilts and wall hangings for herself and for family. She was a member of the Busy Bee Quilting Guild of Snohomish and showed her masterpieces at quilt shows and the Evergreen State Fair. Always willing to try something new, she also tried her hand at other creative projects such as stained glass, pottery, basket weaving and carpentry, but quilting was, by far, her forte.

Beverly had an abiding love for God and was a charter member of two Lutheran churches, Christ the King, Snohomish, and Holy Cross, Lake Stevens. More recently she was a member of Peace Lutheran, Monroe. She was an active member in church activities, especially when mission work was involved. She worked diligently on mission quilts and had been a member of the Holy Crafters at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bud and sister Donna. She is survived by daughter, Karen (Greg) Wegner and sons Don (Marla) Imsland and Mark (Julie) Imsland; grandchildren, Tim (Judy) Wegner, Jennifer (Shawn) Desy, Sarah (Jeremy) Scribner, Blake (Cory) Imsland and Brett (Emma) Imsland; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Pat Miller and one sister, Carol Williams.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Saturday, Feb. 10, 2018, at Peace Lutheran Church, 202 Dickinson St., Monroe, WA 98272.
