Alice Ruth Weatherholt

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 25, 2012 starting time is 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 2324 Lombard Avenue Everett, Washington 98201. After the memorial service join the family for a Celebration of Life at Fellowship Hall at Trinity Lutheran Church.

She was born Alice Ruth Moore August 30, 1932, in Hamburg Township, Michigan. She was the only child of Ralph and Mary Moore. Her early life included riding her favorite horse, Buster, and 4-H. She attended Ann Arbor High School.

Alice married Julius William Weatherholt, September 7, 1948 in Williamston, Michigan. Their marriage lasted 43 years, ending with his death on February 5, 1991.

In May of 1959 Julius, Alice and their six children moved from Brighton, Michigan to Everett, Washington. Early on she was very homesick for Michigan, but learned to love her new home in Everett. It was only when the U of W Huskies played the U of M Wolverines did her Michigan roots show. She remained an ardent Wolverine fan. Four more children were added to the family after moving to Everett, increasing the household to ten.

Alice was always busy with family activities, ranging from dance and musical recitals, football games, soccer matches, family camping trips, PTA and Golden Acorn. She was always happiest when the family gathered around her for home cooked meals.

In addition to an active family life Alice began working outside the home when her children were older, starting as a Lunchroom Monitor at Washington Elementary Sch-ool. She eventually went to work at Everett Community College in the food service area. Beginning with a part time job bussing tables, she worked her way up to Food Service Manager, for her last eight years. She retired after 23 years of service at the college.

Her retirement simply meant she exchanged work for other new and exciting activities; which still included family events, adding travel, and more volunteer work. She found the time to attend gardening classes receiving the certificate of Master Gardener. As a volunteer usher with the Everett Symphony, Alice enjoyed great entertainment and the opportunity of traveling with the Symphony to Italy. She also traveled to many states, Michigan and Hawaii being her favorite. She especially enjoyed sipping Pineapple Splash on the beach in Maui.

After the death of her husband Alice became involved with Widowed Information and Consultation Services (WICS) working as a grief counselor, executive board member and eventually President of her chapter. She remained activeat Trinity Lutheran Church serving as their Council President.

Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Mary Moore; husband, Julius W. Weatherholt; son-in-law, Raymond Hestikind; and grandchildren, Angeline Weatherholt, David Huzinga, and Erik Hestikind.

Alice is survived by a large family including three sons: David and JoEllen Weatherholt, of Anchorage, Ralph and Karine Weatherholt, of Lynnwood, and Steven and Lisa Weatherholt of Seattle. Seven daughters: Terry and Robert Dyer, Ocean Shores, Maribeth and Larry Halstead, Everett, Nancy and Jim Goldfinch, Marysville, Pamela Hestikind, Granite Falls, Julie and John Rochon, Lake Stevens, Sharon and Ronald Reeve, Lind, and Patricia and Michael Stevens, Burley. Grandchildren, Tonia and Paul Kimball, Paul and Teklya (Wise) Halstead, Jennifer Keel, Jamie and Rick Wood, Jennifer and Lucas Hile, Rachael Weatherholt, Raymond and Jessica Hestikind, Ian and Larisa Rochon, Jacob Reeve, Alexander, Abigail, and Ashton Scott. Great-grandchildren, Teva, Nicholas Taylor, Chelsea, Tiah, Lilly and Olivia.

Besides her family, we would like to thank caregivers, Robert Weather-holt and Bonnie Brum-baugh, who without their tender help we could not have done so well.
