William H. "Bill" Riggs

He retired from Evansville Sheet Metal in 1988 after 40 years of service, serving the last 15 years as Vice President. He was active in the Sheet Metal Contractors Assoc., serving as President, Secretary, and on the Labor and Apprenticeship Committees.

Bill was a member of Northeast Park Baptist Church, where he was the Music Director for many years. He and his wife enjoyed touring by motorcycle and made several long trips, including Yellowstone Park and Ontario, Canada. He also enjoyed water skiing and spent most of the summers living at Wildridge RV Park near Patoka Lake. For the last several years Bill was actively involved in the Lowrey Organ Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Charles; and sister, Sharon Hensley.

Bill is survived by his wife of 67 years, Omegene Vaughn Riggs; brother-in-law, Terry Hensley of East Dundee, IL; daughters, Karen Selby and husband, Steve, and Marti Garrett and husband, Dan, all of Evansville; son, Randy Riggs and wife, Barbra, of Indianapolis; granddaughters, Marnie Johnson and husband, Tony, Heather Vandiver and husband, Justin, all of Evansville, Jennifer Riggs, Mandi Klinger and husband, Andrew, all of Indianapolis, Melissa Papson and husband, Alex, of Eaton, Ohio, and Kendra Garrett of Greenville, SC; and five great-grandchildren.

Services will be 3:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. Howard Matthews and Rev. Steve Taylor, with entombment in Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 2:00 PM until service time at the funeral home.
