Our deepest condolences to your family. We have many great memories of time spent with Wally, Mary and Katie. Wally was a kind and gentle man who cherished his family.

I had the pleasure of working with Wally at Battelle-NW, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory during the 80's and 90's.  Such a very kind gentleman, whom was passionatate about his work and extremely busy at all times, but always took the time to acknowledge, converse with, and share his grest depth of knowedge with his coworkers, especially those of us that came too the Laboratory in our Senior year/hired on following Graduation from High School/College.  Wally was one of many Leaders/Mentors amongst the wonderful group of Scientists/Engineers/Technicians, etc in our Section/Department at 329 Building.  Sorry he has passed.  He will be dearly missed by many.

May God bless you and your family in this time of sorrow. I new Wally for many years and found him to be one of the more pleasant individuals, at the DOE laboratory, with which I had the pleasure to work.

Fond memories of Wally's involvement in the Mid Columbia Ballet.  There is comfort in these memories of our loved ones.  Embrace them, because they are gifts that will remain forever in your heart.

Mary,  we are very sorry for your loss.  I only heard about Wally's situation last Tuesday and was completely shocked and doubly so to see the announcement in yesterday's TC Herald. You have our warmest sympathies.  Wally is surely missed by everyone whose lives he touched. For me, Wally was a welcome and thoughtful & kind mentor and advisor of all the weirdness at PNNL and the DOE.  He made my transition from 40 years of industry to PNNL very easy. Mary, Kristen, and Katie-I was so sorry to read of Wally's passing. My thoughts and deepest sympathy for you all.

I worked with Wally at PNNL for years at PNNL.  He was always gracious and willing to lend a hand.  I remember when he helped me do a math problem on a weird calculator.  And his joy in telling me how he would lift little kids (performers) up backstage during the Nutcracker so they could see the action on stage. I am thankful to have known him and look forward to seeing him again in heaven one day.

Wally was the consummate scholar and gentleman.  It was a privilege to work with him at PNNL over the years.  Ann and I are thinking about you and yours Mary.  Steve Gajewski
