He lived in Richland, WA for 43 years where he was employed at Battelle as a senior research scientist. While living in Richland he was a board member of the Tri-City Chaplaincy and the Mid Columbia Ballet, participating in the Nutcracker for 13 years. He was a member of Richland Lutheran Church and Pasco First Lutheran Church. He moved to Indiana in 2015 and was a member of Grace & Peace Lutheran Church. Walter enjoyed gardening with his wife and being in nature. He was also an avid cyclist, riding over 1500 miles a year, and participated in the Cystic Fibrosis Ride For the Cure.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Weimer; daughters, Kristan (Justin) Horgan and Katie (Ryan) Marzec; grandchildren, Quinn, Jude, and Layla Horgan and Eliana and Kyra Marzec; sister, Patricia Louise Royer, and nieces Kathy Royer and Cheryl Clayborn.
Funeral Services will be 4:00PM, Saturday, November 5, 2016, at Grace & Peace Lutheran Church, 200 S. Boeke Road, officiated by Pastor Roberta Meyer. Friends may visit from 3:00PM to service time at the church.
