Velma Louise Taylor Mason

After retiring from a variety of occupations, she was a homemaker for her three children. She left an everlasting impression on anyone she met, especially her close family and friends.

Velma was preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur William Baker, Sr., in 1983; and her second husband, Charles ”Chuck” H. Mason, in 2007.

She is survived by her daughter, Gretchen Baker; sons, Arthur "Pete" W. (Jill) Baker and Demetrius J. Baker; grandchildren, Stankeol Hassell, Jamisha Meriweather, Anya (Hurley) Thomas, Sherricka Meriweather, Asha Baker, Dekar Baker, Deriece Baker, and Demetria Baker, and 22 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, July 16, 2016, at Alexander East Chapel, officiated by Rev. George Madison. Friends may visit Friday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home. A private entombment will be held at a later date in Alexander Memorial Park.
