Thomas G. Sisk

Thomas Gerald Sisk, age 74, passed away on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at his home in Holiday, Florida. He was born on January 1, 1945 in Paducah, Kentucky to Frances Holder and James Max Sisk. Tom was a 1963 graduate of North High School and was an outstanding athlete lettering in football, basketball and track. He went on to graduate with from Indiana State University with a Bachelors of Science in 1971 and a Master’s Degree in 1974. Tom continued with an additional 90 hours of education; he strongly believed in the importance of education as it was a major focus throughout his life. Tom was employed by the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation for 32 years (1964-2001) as a Teacher at North High School; Assistant Principal at Harwood Middle School and Reitz High School; Principal at Glenwood Middle School and Central High School; and Director of Practical Arts, Adult and Vocational Education. During this time (1982-1984), Tom also served and Adjunct Faculty at Indiana State University in Industrial and Technical Education. In 1993, Tom received the Outstanding Administrator Award presented by the University of Evansville and Mead Johnson. He was later employed by the State of Kentucky for five years (2002-2007) as the Principal of the Webster County Area Technology Center. Tom made lifelong relationships with many teachers and students throughout his career. Tom married Regina (Holtz) Sisk in 1967; they were married for 31 years and remained close for the following 21 years. Together they raised two children, Rob Laubner and Sally (Sisk) Schilling. Tom enjoyed traveling, golf and anything related to sports; he loved light-hearted banter and enjoyed life to the fullest. Tom is survived by his former wife, Regina; son, Rob (Elaine); daughter, Sally; and four grandchildren, Bailey Shelton, Carson Shelton, Spencer Shelton and Grace Schilling. Tom is preceded in death by his parents Frances Holder and James Max Sisk; grandparents, Effie Holder and Roy Holder; and many aunts and uncles whom he loved and who loved and cared for him throughout his life. Memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with a Service following at 1:00 p.m. The family will greet friends at Alexander East Funeral Home, 2115 Lincoln Avenue, Evansville.
