She spent her formative years in Webster County (Slaughters) KY., graduating in 1954 from Slaughters High School. After graduating from high school, she attended and graduated from Lockyear Business College in Evansville (where she met her future husband). After graduating from Lockyear, she returned to Kentucky and worked at Farmers National Bank in Madisonville until her marriage in August of 1957 to Cle Watson, at which time she returned to Evansville, making Evansville her permanent home. Until the arrival of her children, she worked at Faultless Caster Corporation. After being a stay-at-home mom during her children’s early years, she returned to work with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation as a school aide and secretary for twenty-five years.
Sue and her husband were members of the Methodist Temple for 54 years (1969 to 2023) during which time their hobbies consisted mainly of volunteer work on various church-related projects. Her other hobbies were sewing, needlework, and listening to and attending classical/popular music venues.
She was preceded in death by her husband Cle (November 2022); parents, Sarah and Edgar Timmons; and one sibling, her sister, Florence Kolodey.
Sue is survived by her children, daughter, Andrea Buchanan (Mike) of Waynesville, NC., and son, Kirby Watson (Hang) of Austin, TX.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Holiday Village Assisted Living and West River Health Campus for the compassionate care provided to Sue and Cle in recent months. They would also like to thank Matt Deig and staff at Glenn A. Deig Law Office for the invaluable advice and counsel they have provided.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 22, 2023 at Alexander East Chapel with Pastor Andy Payton officiating. Friends may visit from Noon until service time at the funeral home. A Private Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Park.
