Sue spent her childhood years in Buckskin, Indiana and then moved to Elberfeld where she graduated from Elberfeld High School in 1951. After graduation, she went to work for Finks Furniture and then went to work at Kuesters Hardware and retired after thirty years of service. Sue was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church where she was baptized in 1961. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Legion Post 351, in Elberfeld. Sue loved ballroom dancing with George, they danced their way through over 3000 venues. She was an avid reader and enjoyed spending time with family and playing cards.
She is preceded in death by her brother, Dewey Bill Colbert.
Sue is survived by her life partner of over thirty years, George Whalen, sons, Chip and Jeff Dormeier (Kim); grandchildren, Daniel Dormeier III, Quintin Dormeier, Adam Dormeier, Zack Dormeier, Katie Dormeier, Donny Dormeier, and Daniel Helmling; and great-grandchildren, Beckham and Phoenix.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2022 at Alexander East Chapel with Pastor James Culver officiating. Burial will follow at Zion United Church Cemetery in Elberfeld. Friends may visit on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
