Ronald Allen Newman, most recently of The Villages, FL and Huntley, IL, and previously of Arlington Heights and Wonder Lake, IL, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at the age of 78. He was born on November 11, 1944, in Evansville, Indiana where he grew up.
In his younger years, Ron was involved in Boy Scouts and won the Evansville College Science Fair. He graduated from The University of Evansville in 1968. He started his career with Westinghouse Electric Corporation, working around the country. Later he owned Newman Electric Supply in suburban Chicago. Always the salesman, he then worked in the financial services industry and insurance.
In his personal time, Ron was a traveler who instilled his interest in the outdoors with his children through camping, hiking, and canoeing. More recently, he enjoyed boating on Wonder Lake. After moving to Florida, Ron was well known in the neighborhood for his love of pool walking.
Ron was actively involved in the Unity Spiritual Center, the McHenry Rotary Club, Sierra Club, and was a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon Fraternity.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents Fred and Cornelia (Sue) Newman, son Bryce, and Sister Charlene Williamson. He is survived by his life partner Nicki Troia, his son Christopher (Erin), daughter Ashley (Michael) Winnen, grandchildren Patricia and Liam Newman, nieces and his nephews, and Elizabeth Newman, the mother of his children.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service for Ron at the Unity Spiritual Center of Woodstock (IL) on Sunday, January 22, at 2 pm.
