Obituary of Robert Owen Bays Sr.
Robert (Robby) Bays Sr. of Evansville, IN passed away on November 15, 2024 at the age of 60. He was born on February 8, 1964 to Gene and Mary Bays of Evansville. Robby worked as a mechanic for many, many years ending at Harper’s Transmission Service before going into self employment. He was the 8th oldest of 10 children. Robby was preceded in death by Gene Bays (father), Ronny Bays (brother), Rod Bays (brother), and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his mother Mary Bays (Hohl), daughter Jessica Jones (Galand), son Robert (RJ) Bays Jr (Katie), 7 brothers and sisters Linda Julian (Dennis), Carol Wargel (David), Shirley Brown (Mike), Rick, Randy (Clair), Raymond (Karen), Roger (Jerry), many aunts, uncles, cousins, and grandchildren. Robby spent his days listening to Rock n Roll, working on and collecting cars, and loving his family and friends dearly. He was always happy, smiling, and had a contagious laugh. If you were around him, he was going to get you to laugh. He took pride in working on his friends and family’s cars, along with working in his son’s shop wrenching on the project of the week. When he got home, it was time to play with the dog, Alpha. There are not a lot of people in this world that are as caring or loving as Robby and he will be missed dearly forever. The family would like to thank everyone who came to visit him in his last days at Aperion Nursing Facility, along with the care team at Aperion and Heart To Heart Hospice for making him comfortable, happy, and content in his final weeks. Services will be a celebration of life hosted at Burdette Park in the Clubhouse on Sunday, November 24, 2024 at 1pm. There will be finger foods and snacks provided. The family asks that you show up at 1pm and come prepared with your favorite story of his life and love. Contributions or donations may be sent to It Takes A Village Animal Rescue or by reaching out to RJ Bays, Jessica Jones, or Linda Julian to help with expenses. Condolences may be offered at www.AlexanderEastChapel.com.
