She enjoyed her time caring for patients at Pine Haven, where she worked and met her husband, Craig. She then worked at General Electric for 25 years as a lab technician until her retirement. Rita enjoyed her retirement, spending winters in Florida. She also liked shopping and spending time with her grandchildren. Over the last few years, Rita and Craig spent a lot of quality time traveling throughout the country with good friends.
Rita was preceded in death by her parents, Eugene and Marguerite (Schnarr) Smith; sister, Betty “Sissy” Merritt; and brothers, Larry “Sam”, Bob and Charlie Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 31 years, Craig “Flash”; daughter, Kasey (Dale, Jr.) Hobbs of Evansville; grandchildren, Evan, Lillie and Aiden Hobbs; and sisters, Fran Cook and Kate (Kenny) Mossberger.
Services will be 10:30 AM Saturday, April 12, 2014, at Alexander West Chapel, with burial in Tupman Cemetery at a later date. Friends may visit Friday from 3:00 to 8:00 PM and Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time at the funeral home.
