Richard D. D. Turner (Ric, G-Paw, Uncle Pucker), 52 ,of Evansville, IN passed away unexpectedly August 5, 2020 in Crossville, TN. Ric was a driver employed by Mission Complete Transport out of Evansville, IN and died doing what he loved, driving on the open road. Ric was born in Evansville, IN and after a lengthy military career returned to Evansville where he resided with family members Scott and Martie Smithler.
Ric proudly served his country for 26 years in the armed forces (Army). He served in wars with Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Korea and Saudi Arabia and received many awards and commendations throughout his career. He is a lifetime member of the VFW 1114, American Legion post 265 and AmVets. After his retirement from the military Ric attended and graduated from MMI: Motorcycle Mechanics Institute. In addition to his family and military career motorcycles were a true passion for Ric and he was a proud member of the IOMC: Iron Order Motorcycle Club.
Ric is preceded in death by Lelia N. Embry (mother); David McDowell (brother); Karen Gates (sister), and Charles McDowell (brother). He is survived by Kimberly Turner (daughter); Stephen Turner (son) both of Arizona and Taegan Turner (daughter) of Tennessee; sisters, Sylvia Fenwick, Nora Roberts, Margaret Ezell and Laura Hager, and one brother, Micheal Embry. He is also survived by multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Funeral Service will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, August 22, 2020 at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Pastor Terry Gamblin, with burial in Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. There will be a dinner for friends and family following the burial at American Legion post 265, 1301 N. Fares Ave. Evansville, IN.
