Richard W. Howery, 72, of Evansville, passed away Thursday, June 5, 2014, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital. He was born October 16, 1941, in Evansville, to the late Michael Wilbur and Felicia Ellen (Shannon) Howery.
He retired from GE after 34 years as a Lab Technician in the Research and Development Department. He loved golf and was proud of his hole in one. He enjoyed his hand gun collection, fishing, the outdoors and playing poker. He also loved his family and spending time with them. He lived life to the fullest.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia; granddaughter, Katelyn; mother-in-law, Dorothy Boerner.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Howery; daughters, Kimberly (Chris) Funk, Gayle (Andy) Schmidt and Heather (Chris) Goergen; son, Michael (Jill) Howery; grandchildren, Christopher (Kelly), Amanda (Kelly), Sarah (Tegan), Melanie (Justin), John (Ciara), Hunter, Faith, Keira and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Jade, Oliver and Michaela; father-in-law, Arthur Boerner; sister-in-law, Sharon (Jim) Bauman; nephew and niece, Dennis (Erin) and Brittany; and great-nieces, Kinsley and Ashlyn.
Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Friends may visit Monday, June 9, 2014, from 2:00 to 8:00 PM at Alexander West Chapel.
