Rayburn attended MacMurray College and Lockyear Business College. While living in Evansville, she attended St. Paul’s UCC and was a charter member of St. Mark’s UCC. She belonged to the Evansville Country Club and along with her husband was active in the founding of the USI Varsity Club.
After retiring from their Accounting Business in the 1970’s, she and Elmer moved to Boca Raton, FL. Rayburn returned to Evansville in 2008. She was an avid golfer and twice made a hole in one while a member of Boca Del Mar Country Club. She was active in the Congregational Church of Boca Raton, FL, where she was instrumental in the founding of the Hand Bell Choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Sander, three sisters, one brother, and a great-great granddaughter, Faith Deig.
Rayburn is survived by her daughter, Nancy Cox (Jerry); son, Steve Sander (Kay); grandchildren, Sara Shane (Mike), Sam Cotton (Debbie), Chad Sander (Leann), and Craig Sander (Anne); step grandchildren, Derek Cox (Peggy), Karen Cox, and Susan Dryman; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the staff of Angel River Health and Rehabilitation Center and Vista Care Hospice.
A Celebration of Life will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, August 14, 2010, at Alexander West Chapel, officiated by Rev. Al Amstutz with entombment at Alexander Memorial Park. Friends may visit Friday from 4 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
